We did not ask an operator or read a blog. We counted the Park's own calendar, slot by slot, and kept the raw data with this site.
The count
On 5 September 2026 the Full Experience – Underground and Arena ticket was selling dates from 7 September to 5 October — 28 days. Across those dates the shop listed 464 timed slots with an original capacity of 25 each: 10,150 places. The number still available was one.
For comparison, on the same day the €18 24h ticket listed 39 slots a day and 4,485 places a day, and had 4,648 free — every one of them inside the next five days.

Why it is structural
The hypogeum is walked on a 160-metre raised walkway through a live excavation, in escorted groups of 25. That physical limit puts the underground at under a tenth of the monument's daily admissions — 425 places against 4,485 — no matter how many people want in. Refreshing does not create capacity that the route does not have.
The one thing that does change is the far end of the window: new dates appear daily, roughly 28 days out. If you are set on doing this yourself, that is the moment to be at the keyboard.
The dates that sell nothing
The first Sunday of the month is a free-admission day at the Colosseum, and the underground ticket is not on sale for it at all — 4 October 2026 is simply missing from the calendar. On those Sundays the only way below the arena is an operator's quota, and the monument above is at its most crowded.
How to Buy It, If a Slot Exists
The steps
Go to ticketing.colosseo.it, choose Individuals, then Full Experience – Underground levels and Arena. Pick the number of participants, then a date; available dates are the only ones the calendar will let you select. Every visitor needs their own reserved ticket regardless of the fare — full, reduced or free.

If the name is wrong
You can change it only until midnight on the seventh day before the visit, and only for a clerical error in the name, a wrong ticket type assigned inside the same transaction, or a documented serious reason preventing the visit. There is a dedicated form. Outside those cases the ticket stays as issued.
What the €24 does not buy
A guide. The Park sells guided tours separately, and the underground on this ticket is walked with an escort rather than a commentary. If you want the tunnels explained — and they reward explanation more than almost anything else in Rome — you are looking at a guided tour anyway, which also solves the availability problem.
The Realistic Alternatives
An operator's quota
Licensed operators hold their own allocation, which is why a tour can offer a hypogeum date the public shop has not had for weeks. You pay for the guiding and the quota; the €24 ticket is inside the price. Group size is what separates the listings — seven and six people at the small end, unpublished at the large end.

The arena floor instead
The €18 24H Only Arena ticket puts you on the reconstructed deck for 20 minutes, looking down into the hypogeum from the rim. The attic, if the underground is gone
The third Full Experience variant, also €24, adds the attic — the highest tier, with the view down the axis of the arena and out over the Forum. It is far easier to get than the underground and is the better fallback for a traveller who wants restricted access rather than the tunnels specifically.
